This award-winning personal documentary explores the beauty of the Deaf community through the lens of my own upbringing with a deaf father, offering a unique, immersive perspective on life between two worlds—hearing and silent.
Growing up with a deaf father has shaped my life in countless ways, but this difference has always felt normal to me. It has allowed me to experience two distinct worlds – one deaf and one hearing. These worlds differ in many ways: sound versus silence, spoken language versus visual communication, and the barriers that often keep them apart. Immersed in silence, my personal documentary invites you into the deaf world, showcasing the beauty and fluidity of American Sign Language, with closed captioning to guide the experience.
This personal documentary was created entirely by me, from concept to execution. It has since won several awards and been showcased at various film festivals. Through this project, I aimed to move audiences by offering a unique perspective, shedding light on the Deaf community and an experience that is often overlooked. By sharing this story, I exposed viewers to new insights, fostering a deeper understanding and interest in the deaf world and its rich cultural nuances.
